It’s elementary: Watson is tops in Allan Cup Hockey

Cam Watson

Cam Watson of the Dundas Real McCoys has been named the Ontario Hockey Association’s Senior AAA Player of the Month for January.

“Cam had a productive month of January, and with the support of his teammates he has given his team a solid shot at a second place finish,” said Bob Habkirk, convenor for the OHA’s Allan Cup Hockey league

Real McCoys coach Ken Mann echoed Habkirk’s sentiments: “Cam has had a breakout season offensively and he continues to be a responsible defensive player for us. That adds up to being a very solid all-round player in the league.”

“Last season we used him in a more defensive roll, but since he has hooked up with Brad Kenny and Scott Mifsud he certainly has found the net on a regular basis. This league has a lot of great players in it, so to be leading the league in scoring at this point of the season is a great accomplishment.”

In January, Watson appeared in six games and scored 10 goals and added eight assists. Two of his goals were game winners.

Watson leads the ACH in scoring with 32 goals and 21 assists for 53 points in 21 games. He has four powerplay goals, one shorthanded goal and three game-winning goals. In his two seasons with the Real McCoys, the Cambridge hockey product has 40 goals and 34 assists (74 points) in 39 regular season games, and 28 minutes in penalties. Included in these totals are four powerplay goals, two shorthanded, and five game-winning goals.
