Mohawk’s Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Athletics basketball teams came away from Niagara with a pair of victories on Wednesday (Feb. 8).
The Mountaineer men downed the hometown Knights 77-59 to improve to 11-5 while Niagara dropped to 6-8. The result has Mohawk sitting in fourth place with 22 points, the same for first place Humber in the West Division. That’s because Humber has played three fewer games than Mohawk and has an 11-2 record.
Aminu Bello had 25 points for the Mountaineers. Tanner Lane had 17 and Andrew Cicuttini added 14.
The Mohawk women’s record improved to 7-9 with a 59-51 decision over Niagara, 6-8.
Rachelle Abella had a big game with 25 points. Taylor Shaw added 10 for the sixth place Mountaineers. Niagara sits in seventh place.
