Volleyball win would give Mac home court edge


Toronto – The McMaster women’s volleyball team continued its win streak on Saturday (Feb.11) with a big win over the Toronto Varsity Blues. For their eighth win in a row, the Marauders defeated the Blues in four sets in Ontario University Athletics play.

The Marauders won the first two sets, 25-19, 25-23, before the Blues rebounded to take the third, 25-22. In the finale, McMaster sealed the deal with a 25-21 set win for their 11th win of the season. The victory gave the Marauders possession of fourth place with 22 points, two more than the Blues.

Outside hitter Kailee Stock scored a game-high 19 kills in the win. Middle Shannon McRobert added another 13 points for McMaster with nine kills and four blocks and libero Meagan Nederveen had a team-high 19 digs. Setter Amanda Weldon recorded 36 assists and 10 digs.

For the Blues, Charlotte Sider recorded a game-high 22 points with 17 kills and five blocks. Denise Woodling had 15 points and Sarah Chapin added 10 more for Toronto.

The Marauders play their final game of the regular season on Sunday (Feb. 12) against the York Lions, who have locked up first place in the league with a 15-record and can’t be overtaken. A win for McMaster will secure a home playoff game. Gametime is noon at York.
