At the time, Taylor Chiarot’s three-pointer with less than two minutes left in the game on Wednesday (Feb. 15) was a routine scoring play for the veteran McMaster Marauder.

But the basket scored against the Western Mustangs in the Ontario University Athletics women’s basketball game sent Chiarot past Taylor Smith on the all-time McMaster scoring list. The basket gave the Hamilton St. Mary Catholic High School grad 1,272 career points in conference play, two more than Smith.

Chiarot scored 24 points in the game, which Mac lost, 77-70.

The Marauders hold a 10-11 record, good for fifth in the OUA West with just one game to go. They host the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday at noon in the Burridge Gymnasium.
