Cash awards aimed at improving softball skills

A number of area softball groups are the recipients of Softball Ontario’s Fundamental Excellence Awards. Of the 25 awards granted, to provide training opportunities for more than 300 volunteers across Ontario, five go to associations in and around the Golden Horseshoe.

Receiving awards for Umpire Development are the Georgetown Ladies Powerpuff League and the Grimsby Amateur Baseball Association. The Halton Hawks Girls Fastpitch Association receives its $500 award for Competitive Coach Development and the Oakville Girls Softball Association will funnel its award to Volunteer Development.

The Brantford Minor Softball Association is the benefactor of the cash award for Community Coach Development.

A Softball Association Fundamental Excellence Award of $500 recognizes the efforts of local softball associations to improve its volunteer base, and help softball associations to train volunteers.

Softball Ontario receives from a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to assist the program.
