Perrault goes out on a high

Ottawa Gee Gees Jennifer Perrault is the Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics female athlete of the week for the period ending March 11.

The Burlington native and a fifth-year veteran gave another strong performance last week, following up after the OUA track championship in which she won three medals and was named OUA female MVP for track events.

Perrault wrapped up her successful collegiate career at the Canadian Interuniversity Sports track and field championships by winning a gold medal in the 1000m event in a time of 2:48.98. She also won a bronze medal in the 600m run in a time of 1:30.68.

In her final year of eligibility, Perrault was able to produce three OUA medals and two CIS medals. Her performance helped the Gee-Gees eclipse their performance from last year at the CIS track and field championships.

The male award goes to Dontae Richards-Kwok of the York Lions track and field team.

He was named the most outstanding male athlete of the CIS championships after winning two gold medals and one silver medal. The fourth-year sprinter staked his claim as the fastest man in the CIS by winning both the 60m and 300m races at the meet.
