The honours haven’t stopped for the Mohawk men’s basketball team following their first national championship last weekend in Truro, Nova Scotia.

Second year forward Andrew Cicuttini (Dundas), who was MVP of the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association tournament, has been named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Overall Male and the Male Basketball Student-Athlete of the week for the period ending March 18.

Cicuttini had a pair of double-doubles and averaged 21 points and 13 rebounds, over three games which gave Mohawk the national crown. His figures were well above his regular season average of 10.2 points and 8.4 rebounds.

Not surprisingly, the Mountaineers have also been named the OCAA Men’s Team of the Week.

Mohawk is the first OCAA team to capture a men’s national basketball championship since 2001.
