Hamilton’s Transway Atom girls bounce to OBA gold

The Transway Atom Girls capped off a perfect season, remaining undefeated and capturing a gold medal at Ontario Basketball Association provincials championships this past weekend.

The Atom provincials were held in Brantford, with 32 Ontario team competing in four divisions.

The champion Transway team is: Front row - Peyton Connolly, Emilie Calabrese; Second row - Taylor Marof, Claire Sutherland-Case, Alyssa Giovannangeli, Sara Bozzo, Yasmine Ahl Lamara; Third row: Meira Morphet, Alessandra Chiarot, Kaillie Hall, Emily Martindale, Olivia Mathews; and Back row - coach Ken Bachalo, manager Ron Calabrese, coach Carm Bozzo.




The Transway girls entered provincials ranked as No. 1 in the province, and competed in Division 1 (AAA). The team won all five of its games, defeating opponents from Chatham, Hamilton, Dundas, and Toronto to claim the gold medal in the championship final.

The team, sponsored by Starburst Dancewear and TD Bank, finishes the year with a perfect 29-0 record, including five tournament gold medals and the provincial title. For more information on Transway basketball see the website www.transwaybasketball.com
