Two Niagara officials join the world stage

Two Niagara Peninsula residents have been appointed to International Rowing Federation juries for the 2012 regatta season.

Welland’s Thomas Blacquiere and St. Catharines’ Jim Marino will represent Canada at international events. Blacquiere will attend the Samsung Rowing World Cup 3 in Munich, Germany, June 14 – 17. Marino will be at the World Rowing Senior and Junior Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from Aug. 15-19.

“I’m very pleased to have Canada represented so well on the international stage,” said Mike Walker, Rowing Canada Aviron vice president of National Development. “These experienced officials will do an excellent job at these top rowing events.”

An international license expires at the end of the year in which one turns 65.
