Harb settles for racquetball silver

Burlington’s Sami Harb put up a good fight but couldn’t overpower Coby Iwaasa of Lethbridge, Alta., who claimed the Boys 16 and Under title at the Canadian Junior Racquetball Championship on Saturday (April 28) in Winnipeg.

Iwaasa, the 15th ranked male player in Canada, defeated Harb, 15-11, 15-9. Iwaasa also won the 18 and under final.

In the Boys Doubles 16 and Under, Harb and partner Jacob Lickers of Brantford dropped a 15-7, 15-7 set to Michael Leduc of Valleyfield, Que., and Nicolas Bousquet of Montreal.

In Boys Doubles 14 and Under, Stoney Creek’s Beau Doricki and Mark Nelson of Windsor lost a third-place battle to an Alberta duo, 15-13, 15-17, 11-9.

All players who reached the finals qualified for the Canadian Junior National Racquetball Team that will compete at the 2012 World Junior Racquetball Championships in Los Angeles in November.
