A promising skater from Milton has been invited to this year’s Skate Canada National Development Camp in Toronto.
Madelyn Dunley, 15, will join 24 other skaters from across Canada, May 4-6, based on a combination of age and performance in the 2011-12 season. Dunley was crowned the 2012 Canadian Novice Ladies Champion earlier this year in Moncton. After winning both the short and the long programs, she won the event by a convincing five points over the second place competitor.
Dunley, who is coached by Nancy Lemaire, has been skating for eight years at the Milton Skating club.
The focus of the camp will be on basic skating skills and technical skill development through on ice sessions. The athletes will also take part in fitness testing and there will be sessions specifically aimed for coaches.
