Mac rugby star pegged for 2012 World University Rugby Sevens

McMaster Marauders Andrew Ferguson has been selected for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport rugby team that will compete at the 2012 World University Rugby Sevens Championship. The tournament will take place July 11-13 in Brive, France.

The Mississauga native has been sensational for the Marauder rugby team during his first two years in Maroon, being named Ontario University Athletics Rookie of the Year in 2010 and gaining league all-star status in both 2010 and 2011. In 2010 he helped McMaster capture the OUA championship.

Playing the Scrum-half/Fly-half positions, Ferguson will be looking to help Canada improve on its best ever finish at the FISU Rugby Sevens event, which was sixth-place at the 2010 event in Portugal.

This year’s event is the fifth FISU Rugby Sevens Championship, which is held every two years and started in 2004.
