Mac has strong presence on provincial volleyball teams

The recent provincial team selection camps held by the Ontario Volleyball Association saw six current McMaster players and two incoming recruits make rosters for Team Ontario’s 2012 teams that will compete this summer.

Making the men’s U-20 team are Jori Mantha, Austin Campion-Smith, Alex Elliot and Daniel Groenveld, along with recruit Jacob Siekierski from Kincardine.

Mantha and Smith were both members of the OUA All-Rookie team in 2011, while Elliot and Groenveld were All-Rookie team members in 2012. Both Jori Mantha and Alex Elliot were also named to the CIS All-Rookie team in their respective debut seasons.

Committed to joining the Marauder in the fall, this will be Siekierski’s second year playing for the provincial team.

Selected for the women’s U-19 provincial team are Marauders Lauren Mastroluisi and Taylor Brisebois, while incoming recruit Khira Adams from Kitchener also made the grade.

Mastroluisi and Brisebois were both named to the 2012 OUA All-Rookie team, with Mastroluisi also garnering selection to the CIS All-Rookie team.

A libero from Forest Heights Collegiate, Adams also recently committed to don Maroon this September for her university career.
