Hamilton volleyball club takes Canadian gold

After winning a silver medal at the provincial championships, the Mountain Volleyball Club 15U Girls went undefeated in tournament play, winning the gold medal at the Canadian National 15U championships held in Toronto.

Finishing first in their Division 2 pool, MVC stayed in the top tier by remaining undefeated in seeded pool play. MVC defeated the New Brunswick Dynamite, 25-22, 25-22; the Markham Stingers 25-19, 25-22; and the Edmonton Fire 25-21, 25-15. In the re-seeded power pools, MVC defeated the North Bay Wildcats, 25-10, 25-8; the Quebec Limpact, 25-17, 25-2; and the Aurora Storm Hurricanes, 25-23, 25-23.

In the quarter finals, MVC pushed through winning 25-22, 25-16 over Etobicoke E381.

In the semi finals, MVC downed the Vancouver Apex Smash, 25-7, 25-18, and finished strong over the St. John’s New Brunswick Max Academy, 25-20, 25-22, to win the gold medal.

The coaches of the MVC 15U team are Denis Levesque and Michael Hall of Hamilton and Meghan Boyle of Ancaster.

The MVC 15U players are: Ancaster’s Alessandra Assaf; Binbrook’s Alyssa Borges; Glanbrook’s Madison Rowe; Hamilton’s Natasha Burns, Kate Kalenchuk, and Jordan Koslowski; Dundas’ Nicole Cashin, Adele Olejarz, Charlotte Rose, and Nicole Gwiazdowicz’ and Waterdown’s Braeden Rumple and Rachel Doric.
