Minor Peewee Cards start tourney on winning note

Hamilton Cardinals AAA Minor Peewee team picked up an opening game win at the Oakville Minor Baseball Tournament, edging North York, 4-3, on Friday (May 25).

Tommy Thompson’s fourth inning single to bring home Jordan Simpson proved to be the winning run. The run gave the Cardinals a 4-2 lead.

North York scored one run in the sixth on an RBI single by Alex Trenton.

Ryan Magdic got the win for the Minor Peewee Cardinals allowing three runs over seven innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered five hits. North York grabbed the early lead, 1-0 but Hamilton answered North York’s top inning with two runs of its own in the first scoring on an RBI single by Steven Lemay and a passed ball.
