First place remains in hands of Peewee2 Cardinals

The Minor PeeWee2 Hamilton Cardinals remained unbeaten and in first place in the Central Ontario Baseball Association after dumping the West Oak Trails, 14-2, in Oakville.

In a battle for first place, the Cardinals improved to 6-0 while West Oak Trails fell to 5-2 and sit in third place.

Michael Wheaton, in only his second game of the season after recovering from a broken right foot, started on the mound and finished with a complete game. His Pitching line showed six strikeouts, five hits, 1 walk, and two unearned runs.

Oakville was held scoreless until the bottom of the sixth inni8ng when they plated their two runs.

Colton Roberts had a “highlight reel” catch. Charging hard on a fly ball to centre field, he made the catch, fired home to cut down the Oakville player who tagged at 3B in an attempt to score.

The bottom four hitters in the Cards line-up – Andrew Johnson, Kamryn Bain, Kyle Samson and Jack Morin – were a combined 8-for-11 at the plate and scored eight of the 14 runs scored. Lead-off hitter Brock Hudecki was 2-for-3 and walked once.
