Senior Cards leave Guelph battered

The Guelph Royals offence exploded with 19 hits and 15 runs as they handily dropped the visiting Hamilton Cardinals 15-5 in Intercounty Baseball league play on Tuesday night (May 29).

Adam Reynolds was the winner, giving up just four hits and one earned run with one walk and nine strikeouts over the opening seven innings for the Royals (5-5).

Matt Martinow suffered the loss for Hamilton (2-7), allowing 10 hits and seven runs – six earned – with one walk and four strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings pitched.

Four Royals homered on the night, including Frankie Hare who went an impressive 5-for-6 at the plate adding a double and three singles to his home run finishing with two runs scored and four RBI. Kevin Treichel also homered and singled twice with two runs scored and an RBI, while Jeremy Ware singled and homered with a run scored and three RBI. Mark Allen singled, homered and drove in two runs while scoring once. Nathan Grant had a pair of hits with two RBI and a run scored in the win.

Justin Malabanan singled twice with two RBI and a run scored for Hamilton in the loss, while Jon Saporsantos homered and scored twice. Chike Springer doubled and drove in two runs.
