The Hamilton Cardinals Midgets faced their strongest competition to date in the Central Ontario Baseball League on May 30.
The Midgets came out in full force, riding high on their three-game win streak, and dominated the game defensively and offensively, but could manage just a 1-1 stalemate. Hamilton’s starting pitcher, Travis Tomlinson, had an outstanding performance and went the distance by completing six full innings, allowing four hits, five walks while striking out five, and surrendering no runs.
With Tomlinson reaching his pitch count, he was relieved by David Vanderby who also had a strong performance and completed three innings, allowing one hit, one walk, two strike outs and one earned run.
Offensively, the Midgets also dominated against the Oakville A’s getting seven hits and were the first to score on an RBI double by Braden Johnston in the fourth inning.
Oakville scored its lone run in the seventh. Hamilton is unbeaten in four games.
