Bantam Cards keep unbeaten mark

Anthony Marzenek’s four perfect innings of relief work helped the Minor Bantam 1 Hamilton Cardinals remain unbeaten in Central Ontario Baseball Association league play.

The Cards 5-2 decision over the Mississauga Majors on Monday night (June 4), left Hamilton and the Mississauga Tigers as the only unbeaten squads in the 10-team league.. The Cards-Tigers game scheduled for Tuesday (June 5) was postponed. Going into Monday’s game, the Majors were also unbeaten. Hamilton has a record of seven wins and one tie.

Marzanek needed just 40 pitches to retire all 12 batters he faced, lowering his ERA to 1.08. Tyrell Hebert earned the win for Hamilton, holding the Majors to just four hits and two earned runs in three innings.

Mitch Rossit led the offence with two hits and two RBI. Owen Novoselac and Brendon Kelly-Ruetz also had two hits while Caleb Radley extended his hitting streak to eight games.
