Tigers hold Rookie Ball Cards at bay

The Rookie Ball Hamilton Cardinals staged a late-game rally but came up short, 11-9, versus Mississauga in Central Ontario Baseball Association play.

Leading the charge offensively for the Cards were Josh Goodridge, 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; Justin MacDonald, 2-for-3 and scored a run; and Dylan Clement, 2-for-3 and a run scored.

Keeping the Cards together defensively were Justin DeZoete, who made an outstanding catch on a rocket line drive to the outfield in the fifth inning; Matthew Underwood, who was solid at third base and made a nice catch; Dawson Matsell, who apparently liked the taste of dirt and made a nice diving attempt at a fly ball; and finally, Carson Johnson, who hooked up with Zack Woodworth throwing a bulls eye to home plate where Woodworth applied a Major League tag for an out.

The Rookie Ball Cards are now 5-4 on the season.
