The Major Peewee Hamilton Cardinals faced the first place Mississauga Tigers Wednesday night (June 20) and came out on the wrong end of a 17-3 score.
Starter Michael Ssemanda took the Central Ontario Baseball Association loss. During his two innings of work he gave up seven – but only three were earned – from six hits and a walk. However two of those hits were two-run home runs by the Tiger’s Alvarez, who drove in a total of 6 runs, going 3-for-3 on the night.
Kole Bishop-Polmateer came on in relief and gave up 10 runs (nine earned) over 1 1/3 innings. He was tagged for eight hits while walking two. Ben Zwolak closed out the game by getting the final two outs.
Dawson McLaughlin was 2-for-2 at the plate, with a double. Nolan Gallo, Tyler Whalen and Chris Pendlebury scored the runs, with Jacob Underwood getting the lone RBI with a sacrifice fly in the second inning.
The Cards are 1-7 in league play.
