Jordan Lundberg had four hits and three runs-batted-in and Brad Bissell and two relievers combined for a six-hit shutout as the Baycats blanked the Burlington Twins, 9-0, in Barrie in the lone game played in the Intercounty Baseball League on Tuesday (July 3).
Barrie (13-12) scored three runs in the first inning and added four more in the fifth en route to the easy win, which lifted the Baycats into possession of third place in the IBL standings.
Bissell went six innings, allowing five hits with six strikeouts and no walks, before Adam Hawes and Chris England completed the six-hit shutout that dropped the eighth place Twins to 8-15.
Jon Waltenbury and Jeff Cowan both had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one for the Baycats, while Matt Logan also had two hits and scored twice. Matt Richardson also had two hits for the Baycats, who rapped out 15 hits.
Ryan Noack was the starter and loser for Burlington. He went six innings, allowing eight runs on 13 hits with three walks. Matthew St. Kitts and Aberdeen Chan both had two hits for the losers.
The Twins will next host the Hamilton Cardinals in a make-up game this Thursday (July 5) at Nelson Park. Game time is 7 p.m.
