Eagles too strong for Cardinals


A tight game was decided in the 7th inning as the AAA Minor Peewee Hamilton Cardinals fell to the Georgetown Eagles, 7-6, on Wednesday (July 11) at Mohawk Sports Park.

The Cardinals offence was led by Sean Pettener, who went 2-for-2 against Georgetown’s pitching. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the fourth.

Colton, Kead and Cameron sparked Georgetown as they combined for five hits and three RBI.

After Georgetown had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, Hamilton responded, scoring a pair of runs. a groundout by Jordan Simpson and an RBI single by Pettener brought in the runs.

Georgetown tied the game in the second inning when a passed ball allowed a base runner to score. But Hamilton put together a four-run inning in the fifth to regain the lead.

Georgetown rallied in the final inning to take the Central Ontario Baseball Association game.
