Cardinals flying higher than Eagles

The Hamilton Cardinals AAA Minor PeeWee improved their Central Ontario Baseball Association regular season record to 12-8 with a 10-2 decision over the host Georgetown Eagles.

Hamilton scored four runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Ian Jordan, a groundout by Steven Lemay, an RBI single by Tommy Thompson, and a walk to Sean Pettener. Thompson went a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish for the Cardinals.

Pitcher Josh Tee held the Eagles to two hits while allowing no earned runs, walking one, and striking out three during three innings of work.

Hamilton did not surrender the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on an error and an RBI triple by Ryan Magdic.

Hamilton got one-run rallies in the second and third innings. In the second frame, Hamilton scored on an error, plating Thompson.

The Cardinals tacked on another two runs in the fourth. A Georgetown error scored Magdic to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Thompson’s double, scoring Lemay.

One Georgetown run crossed the plate in the bottom half of the fifth making the score 6-1. An error seemed to lift the Eagles but reliever George Tsiflikiotis got Georgetown to ground out to end the threat.
