Peewee 2 Cards cap season with two wins

The Hamilton Cardinals Minor Peewee Tier 2 team finished a very successful 2012 Central Ontario Baseball Association regular season with a 20-3-1 record. And the Cards closed out the schedule with back-to-back wins this week. On Wednesday, Hamilton scored an 11-5 decision over host Waterdown and the previous night the Cards beat visiting Brampton, 8-6.

On Wednesday, starter Kyle Samson got the pitching win, registering three strikeouts, five walks, and four hits. Of the five runs he surrendered, four were earned.

Michael Wheaton came in for the final Inning, giving up a single hit.

Jacob Gajic lead the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and RBI double while scoring twice. Wheaton finished 3-for-3. all singles. Hunter Lancia also had a 3-for-3 night with a pair of singles and a double.

On Tuesday, visiting Brampton started things off quickly with a four-run first Inning. The Redbirds tallied back with two in their half of the inning. Two more in the second and four in the third completed Hamilton’s scoring. Brampton pushed one across in the third and another in the fifth but a strong combined pitching effort by Andrew Johnson and Jack Morin allowed Hamilton to leave Mahoney Park with the victory.

Morin also went 2-for-three, smacking two doubles and scoring twice. Kamryn Bain, also had a 2-for-3 outing with a pair of singles while scoring once.
