Otters training camp set to go in Ancaster


Head coach Robbie Ftorek will put the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League through their first practice at 6.30 p.m. on Monday (Aug. 27) at the Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster.

The Otters have moved their training camp to the Ancaster arena while renovations are completed at their Pennsylvania home, the Erie Insurance Arena. The team’s workouts will be open to the public and on the Olympic-sized ice rink.

Tickets for the exhibition games are on sale.

 

The schedule for training camp is:

Monday, Aug. 27
Team Blue practice, 6:30 p.m. Team Red practice, 7:50 p.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 28
Team Red, 9:30 a.m. Team Blue, 10:45 a.m.
Inter-squad Game – 5:45 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 29
Inter-squad Game, 9:30 a.m.
Team Red, 5:30 p.m.
Team Blue, 6:35 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 30
Team Red, 9:30 a.m.
Team Blue, 10:45 a.m.
Inter-squad Game, 5 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 31
Practice, 9:30 a.m.

Exhibition game against the defending Eastern Conference champion Niagara Ice Dogs. Tickets for the 7 p.m. contest at the Morgan Firestone Arena are $10.00 and a portion of the proceeds will support Ancaster’s Rotary Spray Pad Project.

Saturday, Sept. 1
Practice: 9:30 a.m.

Exhibition game against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League at the North Wentworth Arena in Flamborough. That 7 p.m. game will benefit Skate the Dream program, which offers underprivileged children in Hamilton the opportunity to play ice hockey. Tickets are $12.00 or $10.00 with a donation to the Flamborough Food Bank. Tickets can be purchased at the Morgan Firestone Arena.
