The Hurricanes third year passer led the Hurricanes to a big win over the visiting Bears on Saturday (Aug. 25).

The Police Foundations student at Mohawk College had a pass efficiency of 127.1 on the day. He will try to lead the Hurricanes to their third consecutive victory, when they travel to play the Twin Cities Predators on Friday (Aug31) at 7:30 p.m. at Knight-Newbrough Field in Waterloo.

The defensive player of the week is Mason Beekhuis, a third year linebacker for the Windsor AKO Fratmen. He had an amazing all-around performance in the Fratmen’s 25-11 victory over the Ottawa Sooners. Beekhuis led the defense with six solo tackles, one sack and one forced fumble, amassing 17 defensive points.

Along with his defensive mates, Beekhuis and company held the Sooners to a mere 93 total yards on the day. The Fratmen will look to knock off the London Beefeaters Saturday at 1 p.m. at TD Waterhouse Stadium in a match-up of two undefeated teams.

On special teams, the London Beefeaters Zach Medeiros, had a game every kicker dreams of. The third-year player nailed a 32-yard field goal with just six seconds remaining to give the visiting Beefeaters a dramatic 23-22 come-from-behind victory over the Burlington Braves.

On the night, Medeiros was 2-for-4 on field goals, had seven punts for 279 yards, three kick-offs for 173, and was 1-for-1 on converts as London remained undefeated.
