Binbrook beats Binbrook in Cal Ripken finale

Congratulations are due to the Rescom Coatings Inc. Binbrook Moose on winning the 2012 Hamilton City Championship Cal Ripken Baseball Minor division.

The Moose defeated another Binbrook team, the Grizzlies, 13-7, in the final of the day-long City Championship day recently at Eastwood Park in Hamilton. Teams from the Binbrook, East Hamilton Battlefield, and North Hamilton Robert Land leagues all took part in the tournament.

Cal Ripken Baseball (affiliated with Babe Ruth League Inc.) is the fastest growing youth baseball programme in North America for players ages 4-12 in several different divisions.

Cal Ripken Baseball Minor is for players in the 9-12 year old age group and is played on a 60-foot base and 46-foot pitching mound field. Cal Ripken Baseball Major, which will be offered beginning in 2013, is for players 10-12 years old and plays on a 70 foot base and 50 foot pitching mound field.

This past season had the greatest number of registered players for Hamilton area Cal Ripken Baseball leagues – which is part of the Western New York division. More than 400 youths ages 4-12 played in Cal Ripken T-Ball, Rookie and Minor divisions in Binbrook ( , East Hamilton / Stoney Creek ( and downtown Hamilton (

The East Hamilton Battlefield League offers an 8-Under All-Star team programme and will be adding 10U and 12U All-Star teams for the 2013 season when teams will play in the Babe Ruth League’s ( World Series Trail tournament plus various other area tournaments in Western New York and Southern Ontario.
