Soccer players hold the spotlight this week as the McMaster Marauders single out their Pita Pit athletes of the week.

Emma Mangialardi gets recognition for her three goals in two games for the Marauders McMaster in the opening week of the Ontario University Athletics soccer season.

On Wednesday, the third-year midfielder from Oakville scored McMaster’s second goal of the game to secure the win over the Waterloo Warriors. Three days later, in McMaster’s home opener, the kinesiology student scored twice with strikes from the top of the box to help the Marauders defeat the Windsor Lancers.

For the male award, Paterson Farrell gets the nod. The third-year midfielder scored three goals in two games for the Marauders during the opening week of play.

Farrell, also from Oakville, scored the men’s soccer team’s first goal of the season in Waterloo to help the Marauders win their first of the season. On Saturday, the Oakville native was the deciding factor in McMaster’s second win, scoring both goals in a 2-1 win over Windsor.

The Marauders remain undefeated after three games.
