Victory continues to elude the McMaster Marauders field lacrosse team.

For the third straight outing, the Marauders came away winless after dropping a 6-4 decision to London’s Western Mustangs on Sunday (Sept. 16). The Marauders will look for their first win in the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association on Thursday (Sept. 20) when they visit the Gryphons in Guelph.

Playing at home on Sunday, things looked promising for the Marauders when Marauder Jamie Batten scored with six minutes remaining in the period. Drawing the assist was Carter Williams.

But the celebration was short lived after the Mustangs scored two goals before the session ended. Scott Watson and Sam Neeb gave the Mustangs a 2-1 lead to start the second quarter.

The Marauders tied the affair when Mark Phillips scored on a power play with Batten picking up the helper. Less than a minute later Dylan Ham put Western back in front. That was the first of four straight goals Ham would net to vault the Mustangs into a 6-2 charge.

The Marauders shut down the Mustangs after Ham’s last goal with 13 minutes left in the third period but could manage only a pair of counters. Tristan Schram scored at the end of the third with the assist coming from Batten and in the fourth, Ryan Adams scored with Phillips getting the helper.
