Will fastball Mountaineers find first win at home?

After dropping a pair of wild, high scoring affairs (9-8 and 12-11) to Conestoga in midweek, the Mohawk women’s fastball team played a much different game at Seneca Sunday (Sep. 16) but lost their third straight away one-run decision, 3-2, to the host Sting.

Nicole Leitch led the Mountaineers, going 2-for-3 at the plate. Jessica Denstedt was tagged with the defeat in the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association affair.

Mohawk head coach Brian Weller says the team’s play was considerably better than in their opening two games as the defense was strong throughout. However, the offence was lacking.

The Mountaineers will finally get to play at home Thursday (Sep. 20) when the Durham Lords visit Mohawk Sports Park for games at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
