Mac Marauders making marks

Three McMaster University teams – football, men’s soccer and women’s rugby – have made their way into Canadian Interuniversity Sport top ten lists.

The football Marauders remain No. 1 after thumping the Ottawa Gee-Gees in game three of the Ontario University Athletics regular season. McMaster has kept its record spotless after the 45-16 win on Saturday on the road. The Marauders will host the Queen’s Gaels on Saturday and it will definitely be their toughest test as they face the only other undefeated team in OUA.

The McMaster men’s soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to the No. 2 York Lions on Wednesday, and drop to the No. 5 spot in the CIS Top Ten rankings. They redeemed themselves over the weekend with two wins, defeating the Guelph Gryphons 3-1 and taking down the UOIT Ridgebacks 1-0 on the road. The Marauders will take on the Brock Badgers and the Laurier Golden Hawks on the road this week.

McMaster’s women’s rugby team rounds out the Marauders in the Top Ten with a No. 9 spot in the rankings. They captured their second win of the season over the Trent Excalibur in their home opener on Saturday, stomping them by a score of 47-7. On Saturday, they will host the No. 5 Queen’s Gaels in another tough match.
