Conditions were a big part of the story at the 8th Annual Fanshawe College Fall Golf Classic in London on Saturday (Sept. 22).
The Forest City National Golf Club is a very long par-72 layout and wet, cold and windy conditions, along with lots of wooded areas, fescue and water, made the course even more challenging. Connor Wilks led the Mohawk men with an 84, while Ashley Cochrane was the top Mountaineer woman, carding a 96.
“Our team did well in fighting hard and staying patient,” said Mohawk Coach Deborah Lee Eldridge. “The round was almost six hours long so it was an endurance test as well. Everyone did well in maintaining a good attitude and grinding it out for the duration.
“It was a good experience to start the season and the players can use this as a warm-up for our next event in Niagara Wednesday.”
