Tack on two more defeats for Mohawk fastball team. The women saw their record fall to 0-7 after losing both ends of a doubleheader to the St. Clair Saints in Windsor on Wednesday (Sep. 26).
The Mountaineers lost the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association opener, 9-2, and were held to just three hits. Jessica Denstedt was the losing pitcher.
In game two, Mohawk managed eight hits but still lost, 12-2. Jessica Entwistle was charged with the defeat.
Rookie Lindsey Rivet had three hits on the night, with one in the first game and two in the second, including a triple. Ashley Verrall and Nicole Leitch also had two hits in the nightcap.
Despite two more losses, Mountaineers’ head coach Brian Weller saw improvement. “We played better than we have in previous games,” said Weller. “We cut down on our errors. But the other team hit the ball hard.”
With the two wins, St. Clair bumped its record to 5-3.
