Looking for your first win of the season becomes a tall order when you’re up against the high calibre Humber Hawks.
The Mohawk Mountaineers dropped a pair of games to Humber in Etobicoke on Saturday (Sept. 29), 10-4 and 14-4, in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play.
Mohawk is now 0-9, while Humber improved to 7-2.
In the opening game, the Mountaineers had a three run second inning to grab a 3-1 lead. But the Hawks would not be deterred, outhitting Mohawk, 13-5, and pulling away on them. Lindsey Rivet had two hits and drove in a pair, to lead the Mohawk offense. Starter Jessica Denstedt was the losing pitcher.
In game two, Humber scored five runs in each of the first two innings en route to a five inning decision,
Stephanie Duffin and Amber Silversmith each drove in a run for Mohawk. Jessica Entwistle was charged with the loss as Humber unleashed a 14-hit attack.
Mohawk plays again on Tuesday (Oct. 2) when Conestoga (3-5) visits.
