Tourney loss is cup-half-full for Mohawk cage coach

The University of Waterloo Warriors downed Mohawk Mountaineers 65-47 in the final game of the Fleming Invitational Women’s Basketball Tournament on Sunday (Sept. 30). Mohawk finished 1-2 for the exhibition play weekend.

Meg Campbell led Mohawk with 14 points, Rachelle Abella had nine and Sylvia Mosca added eight.

“Overall it was a great weekend for the team”, said Mountaineers’ head coach Kevin Duffy.

“We got a chance to evaluate our team in a variety of situations. Our compete level was strong, we had great leadership from our vets and our rookies didn’t take long to get acclimatized to the college game.

“Hopefully this will be the foundation for a very successful season.”
