The Mohawk men’s team sits in 11th place in a field of 15, after one round of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golf Championships at Roseland Golf and Curling Club in Windsor on Monday (Oct. 1).
Humber leads St. Lawrence-Kingston by one stroke after the opening round in the three-day event.
Individually, Connor Wilks heads the Mohawk contingent at 10 over par 80. He is in 38th place in a field of 74. Michael Rizzetto shot 81, Rob Vachon and Brendan Green matched 83s and Mike Doyle carded 85.
Three players are tied for the lead after shooting par 70. Kurtis Lavery of St. Lawrence-Brockville, Alex Dumais of Humber and Colton Kalkanis of Georgian lead four players by one stroke.
On the women’s side, Jessica Fell shot 94, 22 over par and that puts her eighth in a field of 13. Fellow Mountaineer Ashley Cochrane shot 100 and is tied for 10th place.
Defending women’s champion Tiffany Albath of Durham leads after a nine over par 81, one stroke in front of St. Clair’s Heather MacKenzie.
Mohawk, with only two golfers entered, are not part of the women’s team competition, which St. Clair leads by three shots over Durham.
