Mohawk’s men’s golf team swings to 10th

Michael Rizzetto of Mohawk College improved his scoring by five shots in round two of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Golf Championships in Windsor on Tuesday (Oct. 2). Rizzetto, who carded an 81 on the opening day, shot a six over par 76 on his second round to move into a tie for 36th place.

Mohawk, which was 11th after the opening round on Monday, sits 10th in the men’s team event which Humber leads by three shots over Georgian.

Other individual scores for the Mountaineers were Rob Vachon, 78, Connor Wilks, a second straight 80, Brendan Green, 86 and Mike Doyle, 88.

Colton Kalkanis of Georgian shot a one over par 71 and has a one stroke advantage over Mitchel Kennedy of Seneca, going to the final round Wednesday.

In women’s play, Ashley Cochrane shot 93 and Mohawk teammate Jessica Fell carded 104.

Tiffany Albath of Durham continues to lead the women, two strokes ahead of St. Clair’s Heather MacKenzie.

St. Clair has a healthy lead in the women’s team category. Mohawk is not in the team event.
