The NHL? The Real McCoy is in Dundas

DUNDAS – The National Hockey League may be frozen in a pond of labour ice, but the Dundas Real McCoys are going full steam ahead for a new season of Allan Cup Hockey.

Club president Don Robertson said on Monday (Oct. 1) that he is returning for the 2012-13 season as general manager and will be joined by his coaching staff of Ken Mann and Ron Bernacci.

Robertson has re-signed rookie Scott Stanford, veteran Mike Amodeo (American Hockey League experience with San Antonio, Portland, and Hershey) and goalie Bryan Worosz. Also back in the fold are captain Ryan Christie, Joel Steeves, and former all-star Jerry Galway.

Worosz (2010-12) has played in 33 games (1,927 minutes) winning 19 of those contests for the McCoys. He has given up141 goals for a goals-against-average of 4.39.

Christie (2011-12), a forward, has appeared in 26 games for the McCoys during two seasons, scoring 17 times and assisting on 41 goals for 58 points. He has had 30 minutes in penalties.

Mike Amodeo (2008-12), a forward, has played 92 games for the McCoys, scoring 50 goals and 48 assists. He has 307 penalty minutes in regular season play.

Stafford, a forward, appeared in 17 games with the McCoys last season and scored seven times and had six assists with just two minutes in penalties.

Joel Steeves (2011-12), a forward, is another of the club’s rookies. He played in 13 games for Dundas, registering three goals and five assists for eight points and 10 minutes in penalties.

Galway (2008-12), a defenceman, has played 49 games for Dundas, scoring four times and assisting on 35 goals. He has drawn 14 minutes in penalties.

“We are building to win again this year, and to carry that winning spirit forward to 2014 when Dundas will again play host to the Allan Cup Tournament,” said Robertson. “The players we are bringing back, and the new ones we are signing, are expected to perform well for us.”

Dundas Real McCoys season tickets are now on sale for $99 plus HST, and may be purchased through the team’s hockey office at 179 King Street West in Dundas.
