Falcons pluck two wins from Mohawk

If the Mohawk Mountaineers had any question about Fanshawe sitting atop the Ontario Colleges Athletic Associations West division, the Falcons provided a blunt answer on Tuesday: An 8-1 pounding of the Mountaineers that kept the Falcons unbeaten with a 5-0-1 record in soccer.

Playing on the Redeemer pitches, Cedric N’Guessan scored three goals and Younan Samra added two for the visiting Falcons, who have scored 22 goals and allowed three in six games.

Matthew Kernick got the lone Mohawk marker, his third of the season.

The Mountaineers are 4-3 and fourth in their division.

Fanshawe then completed the double, shading the Mohawk women 1-0.

Dayna Ferguson got the game’s lone goal in first half stoppage time for the third place Falcons, who have a 5-2 record.. Mohawk’s 2-3-2 record is good enough for fifth place.
