Shortly after Hamilton released defenceman Antoine Corbin from a try-out contract, the Bulldogs signed him to a one-year American Hockey League contract.
Corbin, 20, has spent parts of four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Prince Albert Raiders and the Kelowna Rockets, registering 70 points (25 goals, 43 assists) and 265 penalty minutes in 189 regular season games. The 6’3”, 206-pound defenceman played two games with the Raiders this season and scored two goals before receiving an invitation to Bulldogs’ training camp.
The native of Kelowna, B.C., all Raiders defenceman with 12 goals during the 2011-12 season while ranking second on the team with 25 points by a defenceman.
Bulldogs training camp continues Thursday (Oct. 11) with a 10 a.m. practice at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton. The ‘Dogs will wrap-up training camp with a practice at Wave Twin Rinks, located at 1179 Northside Road in Burlington the next day at 10 a.m. The on-ice session at Wave Twin Rinks will be open to the public.
Following Friday’s practice, the Hamilton Bulldogs will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan where they will open their 17th AHL season on Saturday (Oct. 13) against the Griffins at Van Andel Arena. The Bulldogs’ home-opener is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. when they will host the Toronto Marlies at Copps Coliseum.
