The Mohawk Mountaineers lost, 52-46, to Trois Rivieres of Quebec in opening round play at the Georgian Grizzlies Women’s Basketball Fall Classic in Barrie on Friday (Oct. 12).
Daniella Randazzo led the Mountaineers with nine points. Sylvia Mosca had seven and Meg Campbell also had a strong game with six points and eight rebounds.
“We were our own worst enemy tonight,” said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy. “We had 38 turnovers. Most of them were just poor decision making on our part. We rushed through our sets, didn’t communicate and at times were simply outworked.”
Duffy expects his team to come out with a much more focused and intense approach when the Mountaineers play Georgian on Saturday. The Grizzlies lost their opening game as well.
