Mohawk advanced to the consolation final of the Georgian Grizzlies Women’s Basketball Fall Classic on Saturday (Oct. 13) but dropped a 71-58 decision to their rivals, the Niagara Knights.
Cassie Brown scored 13 points for the Mountaineers, while Careena Brown added nine.
“We had some good ball movement, but couldn’t finish are open looks,” said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy.
“Defensively we were broken down too many times and left shooters wide open. It’s a building process. We are a young team and we are continuing to correct our errors. Hopefully by the home opener we will be much more focused and have a better understanding of all offensive and defensive concepts.”
Mohawk opens Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play at home on Oct. 30 against Niagara.
