Waterloo – The McMaster Marauders captured their fifth win in a row on Saturday (Oct. 13), beating the Waterloo Warriors, 24-23.
The Marauders found themselves with some ground to make up, after giving up 13 unanswered points. Waterloo’s Ben Vandenburg (Centreville) scored the first try of the game and Zach Bogdon (Preston) connected for the convert, as well as two penalty goals to give the Warriors the lead.
But before the half was over, McMaster’s Trevor Anderson (Toronto) and Cam Stones (Whitby) scored tries to go into the second half trailing by three, 13-10.
In the second half, Andrew Ferguson (Mississauga) scored a try and kicked the extra two points to go up 17-13. The Marauders extended their lead with Stones’ second try of the day and Ferguson would make the convert
Bogdon kicked another penalty goal to put the Warriors down by four. The Warriors’ Ian Blackie added a final try.
Next up for the Marauders are the Western Mustangs on Oct. 20 at McMaster for the last regular season game.
