The Humber men’s rugby team seems simply unstoppable. The Hawks have won five straight Ontario Colleges Athletic Association games this season and have scored more than 100 points in every one of them.
Unfortunately for the Mohawk Mountaineers, they have been the victims twice. The latest came Saturday (Oct. 20) as the Hawks romped 129-0. Humber is the two time defending OCAA champion. Ironically, Mohawk defeated them in the final of the 2009-10 season. Now it’s looking like no one will deny them in their bid for a third straight crown.
Mohawk, on the other hand, is now 0-5.
Meanwhile, the Humber women’s rugby team, also defending OCAA champions, are now 5-0, after defeating Mohawk. But in this case, they did not have to kick a ball. The Mountaineers were forced to forfeit the game, as they were unable to field a complete team, because of injuries. Humber was credited with a 12-0 win and Mohawk’s record fell to 0-5.
