Soccer Marauders await playoff opponent

McMaster Marauders men’s soccer team earned a first round bye and a ticket to the Ontario University Athletics quarter-finals after drawing 1-1 with the Western Mustangs to conclude regular season play on Sunday (Oct. 21).

The Marauders finished the schedule in second place with a record of 12-1-3, good enough for 39 points in the West Division. York topped the field with a record of 14-0-2 and 44 points.

On Sunday, McMaster will host the highest seeded team remaining after the first round and that could be either Western, Windsor, or Guelph.

The Mustangs were the first to get on the board with a goal from Rudy James (Trinidad, Ont.) in the 19th minute.

It would only take 17 minutes for the Marauders to get even. Nate Morris (Mississauga) scored his second of the season, and his fourth of his two-year career at McMaster.
