Two Mac keepers pull awards from the Pit

Marauders soccer players are this week’s Pita Pit Athletes of the Week at McMaster.

On the male side, Angelo Cavalluzzo is the selection while Britanny Duffey is the women’s choice.

Goalkeeper Cavalluzzo (Hamilton) earned the shut out in McMaster’s first playoff game of the post season with a 2-0 win over the Guelph Gryphons in Ontario University Athletics playoff action on Sunday (Oct. 28).

Despite Guelph applying pressure and poor playing conditions to contend with, Cavalluzzo recorded his first shutout of the post season, adding that to his seven goose eggs during regular season play.

Duffey (Markham) was a major difference-maker in McMaster’s quarter-final win over the Western Mustangs in women’s soccer playoff action on the same day.

The third-year goalkeeper stop all shots in the regulation 90 minutes of play and slammed the door shut during an extra 30 in overtime.

The Humanities major also read the final kickers in the shoot out in making key saves to help the Marauders move on to the OUA Final Four.
