Season’s over but Pizzuti makes another reception

Hamilton Hurricanes Anthony Pizzuti has made the Canadian Junior Football League’s Offensive All-Canadian team for the 2012 season.

The 6-1, 210 receiver hauled in 39 catches for 809 yards and converted five of his receptions into touchdowns this season in the Ontario Football Conference.

He was the lone Hurricane named to the offensive team. The British Columbia Football Conference’s Vancouver Island Raiders had three players named Offensive All-Canadians to lead the CJFL.

The 14 Offensive stars include:

Offensive Line
Nathan Caranci, London Beefeaters; Anthony Daley, Langley Rams; Frank Pellegrino, Calgary Colts; Matt Leung, Saskatoon Hilltops; and Tyler Oldendorf, Vancouver Island Raiders.

Receivers (in addition to Pizzuti); Whitman Tomusiak, Vancouver Island Raiders (37 receptions, 919 yards {led CJFL}, eight touchdowns); Kyle McGinnis, Saskatoon Hilltops (42 receptions, 622 yards, two touchdowns); Brett Carter, Winnipeg Rifles (48 receptions {led CJFL}, 782 yards, six touchdowns).

Running Backs
Greg Morris, Westshore Rebels (150 carries, 1527 yards {led CJFL}, 14 touchdowns); Jordan Samoil, Edmonton Wildcats (163 carries {led CJFL}, 1,340 yards, 13 touchdowns).

Jordan Yantz, Vancouver Island Raiders (175 completions {led CJFL}, 3,243 yards {led CJFL), 33 touchdowns {led CJFL}).

Quinn Van Glyswyk, Westshore Rebels (62 punts, 2,145 net yards, 34.6 average).

Place Kicker
Zack Medeiros, London Beefeaters (17 for 22 in field goals (77.3%), 26 for 26 in converts).

The CJFL will release the Defensive All-Canadians on Thursday (Nov. 8) and the major award winners will be announced on Friday during the Canadian Bowl Banquet of Champions.

The 2012 Canadian Bowl will kick-off Saturday (Nov. 10) at 1 p.m. at McLeod Stadium in Langley, B.C where the Langley Rams and the Saskatoon Hilltops will square off.
