Another member of the Hamilton Hurricanes has achieved all-star status.
Linebacker Adam Grilj was named to the Canadian Junior Football League’s select team of defensive players for the 2012 season. He joins receiver Anthony Pizzuti who was named to the offensive all-star team earlier this week.
The 6-1, 230-pound Grilj had 32 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble during the season in his senior year with the Hurricanes. The Grimsby resident was the 2009 Ontario Football Conference Rookie of the Year, when he played for the Burlington Braves. He was also an all-star while playing for the Victoria Rebels in the British Columbia Football Conference.

Wilguens Deriveaux, St. Leonard Cougars – 19 tackles, 15 sacks (led CJFL), two blocks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one interception.
Evan Foster, Langley Rams – 21 tackles, 9.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, one interception.
Donovan Dale, Saskatoon Hilltops – Had the longest fumble return – 45 yards- in the Prairie Football Conference.
Steven Doege, Okanagan Sun – 34 tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries.

Adam Konar, Langley Rams – 16 tackles, five sacks, four fumble recoveries, three batted balls, three interceptions, one touchdown.
Stephen Dereniwski, Calgary Colts – 30 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one interception, one touchdown.
Neil Riley-Grant, Brampton Bears – 29 tackles, two sacks, three knock downs.
Tremaine Apperley, Vancouver Island Raiders – 13 tackles, two sacks, one batted ball, one interception.
Adam Laurensse, Edmonton Wildcats – 24 tackles, four knock downs, eight interceptions (led the CJFL).
Ian Barrie, London Beefeaters – 19 tackles, two blocks, three knock downs, one fumble recovery, two interceptions
Jermaine Gabriel, Calgary Colts – 28 tackles, two knock downs, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, four interceptions.
Nick Downey, Langley Rams – 35 total returns, 884 return yards, six touchdowns (1 kickoff, 5 punts, led the CJFL), averaging 19.8 yards a return.
