Mountaineers find success on the road

Mohawk’s basketball and volleyball teams all came up winners in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association play on Friday (Nov. 9).

The men’s basketball team downed Sault College, 79-54, for their third straight win and are tied with Fanshawe for second place in the West Region. Both teams trail the 4-0 Algoma Thunderbirds.

The Mountaineers meet the Thunderbirds head on Saturday. Algoma is ranked No.1 in the country, with Mohawk rated No.2.

In women’s play, the Mountaineers whipped the Sault Cougars, 76-34. Mohawk is 2-1 and part of a six-team logjam in second place, behind Algoma, 3-0. The Mountaineers visit Algoma Saturday.

In volleyball, Mohawk teams both scored 3-1 victories over St. Clair in Windsor. The men are now 2-0, tied with Nipissing in first place. The women are also 2-0, tied for top spot with Nipissing and Fanshawe.

Both volleyball teams play Fanshawe in London on Saturday.
